We were commissioned to design a new Faculty of Creative Arts created from the refurbishment of a former engineering facility together with the construction of a three storey new build element. Facilities included fine art studios, drama studio, computer aided design suites, resistant material laboratories and general teaching space.
This contemporary building is designed to be simple and flexible. The materials were selected to be low maintenance through the use of coloured render and powder coated aluminium curtain walling with integrated solar shading.
The scheme was delivered using a design and build procurement route with the Architect novated to the Contractor from the Client. The construction of the new build element is steel framed to provide flexibility in future use with pre cast floors, a low pitched Kalzip roof, and utilises natural and passive ventilation techniques throughout the scheme.
